저기 하늘을 놓친 깃털이 있다

족쇄 채워진 새의 일부가 있다

내가 지상으로 내려온 지는 수억 년이 넘었다

내가 이렇게 묶인 지도 한 1만 년은 되었다.

나는 처음부터 말의 노예가 아니었다.

내가 보고 온 하늘과 태양을 노래하고 싶었다.

나를 먹물 속에 담그거나

언제부턴가는, 내 몸에 먹물을 집어넣고는

내 몸에서 말즙을 짜내기 시작했다

어떤 기록은 왜곡의 産室이다

내 깃가지를 비틀어도

나는 그런 말을 토해낸 적이 없다.

내 거처는 저 텅 빈 하늘이다.

애초부터 나는 정착을 모른다.

결국 나는 처음부터 새다

1만 개의 깃털을 핥아 가지를 곧추 세운다.

한때 만년필이었던, 말이었던, 깃털이

백지 위에서 다시 비상을 준비하고 있다.

왜곡은 왜곡일 뿐이다.

Feathers

There's a feather that has missed those skies;

There's a part of a bird, shackled.

It's more than a billion years

Since I came down to the earth.

It's more than 10 thousand years

Since I was tied down like this.

I was not a slave to the word from the beginning.

I just wanted to sing about the skies and the sun

I had seen.

They dipped me in Indian ink;

Since when, they poured Indian ink into my body,

And began to extract juice of words out of my body.

Some records are a birthplace of distortions.

Twirl my feathers,

I've never known being established from the start.

I've been a bird from the very beginning.

I lick ten thousand feathers to straighten a branch;

The feathers which were a fountain-pen, and a word,

Are now preparing for another flight from the blank paper.

Distortion is merely distortion.
