서 있는 내내

번갈아 저리는 다리

두 눈 꾹 감고도

추억 하나에 집중하지 못해

무작정 내린 낯선 

지명의 구도심

지하에도 지상에도 즐비한 곡(哭)소리

자진폐업, 임대문의, 점포정리, 핵폭탄세일의 

반투명 유리벽을 유람하는데

순간 눈길을 확 당기는

붉고 정갈한 서체

-폭망,

서서히 사라지기보다 불타버리는 게 낫다는 듯

요절인 듯

절명인 듯

해 질 무렵 거리에 차가운 불을 뿜는다

저린 다리를 잊고 

찬불에 움츠러들어

폐업 직전의 정신을 곰곰 헤집어본다

-읽지 않은 책에 대해 말하는 법,

망각의 기술,

예상표절.

슬픈 눈빛으로 오가는 짐승들 사이

딱딱한 목 뒤에서 

기어이 틀어지는 억센 뼈 하나.

The Recent Status A Mere Pain in the Bone 

All the time I stand,

The legs ache one after the other.

Though I close my eyes tightly,

I fail to concentrate on the one memory.

I blindly stop by

The piety of a strange place-name.

Mourning voices abound underground and on earth.

Voluntary business closure, inquiries about renting, 

Shop closure, nuclear-bomb sales.

As I ramble around the translucent glass walls,

The red tidy writing style

Draws my attention instantly.

Debacle -

As if it's better to burn up than slowly disappear,

like premature demise,

like death,

They spew chilly flames over the streets near sundown.

Forgetful of the aching leg,

I cower before the Buddhist hymns

and closely probe the spirit on the verge of business-closure.

A method for discussing a book that has not been read,

The skill for oblivion,

Plagiarism anticipated.

Among the beasts coming and going with sad eye-beams,

A sturdy bone warps willfully

Behind the hard neck.
